Trevor started Sunday School on June 7th. He is in a class for 2 & 3 year olds. There are a lot of kids his age, so they made the cut off June 7th. If you were 2 by June 7th you could join the class, and he was, so he did. :) Along with 3 other little boys and 1 girl who are also 2. The first day his class had 12 kids. That seemed like a lot to me, but when I started thinking about it, when baby girl turns 2 there will be many many more. (More on that in a second).
A few days before it started we practiced his teachers name, told him mommy & daddy wouldn't be staying but would come back for him, etc. He said the following at least 50 times: "Bye Mom. Bye Dad. Hi Mrs. Lewis!!!! Then Mom & Dad come back." I figured he 'got it' as much as a 2 year old really does. Kyle took him downstairs for class and he appeared to be the crier of the bunch, but he must have gotten over it eventually. When we went to pick him up he was lined up in the gym with the other kids drinking a cup of orange juice. His first ever cup of orange juice. He brought home a coloring paper, so I asked him some questions about the story, the other kids, his teacher, etc. but the only thing he seemed to remember was "Thanks mom for Sunday School. Thanks for the juice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Go figure. After the 2nd week Trevor remembered the juice, and the fact that Mr. Lewis played the guitar. Tonight when we talked about it he couldn't remember any of the kids in the class but he said "Draw crayons, read Bible, & sit on carpet squares". When I asked who his teacher was he said "God", though he does know both of their names. I asked him what would happen when it was over and he said "Mom & Dad come back. Go potty!!!!!!! Men potty with Dad." Then we talked about how church would be next and the things he mentioned were "Play guitar, Dad will pick Trevor up. Mr. Lewis play the trombone. Give money to God- put in plate."
In case you couldn't tell- he likes to talk! :) Yesterday on tv he watched Daniel Tiger make a love cake for his mom. I told him that we were making a love pie for Dad for Father's Day. Tonight after he went to bed I could hear him chattering through the monitor. He recited the ABC's twice and then said "Make a love pie for Dad!!"
Friday night we took him to a gender reveal party for a couple in our church. There are a LOT of babies being born there lately. From May 2014-May 2015 there were 10 babies born, 9 girls & 1 boy. So far for June 2015 thru the end of the year we are expecting 9 babies- 3 known to be boys & 4 girls so far. At the reveal party there were colored cupcakes. I asked Trevor if he thought they would be blue or pink and he said "Blue cupcake for Trevor and pink for Baby Sister." He also announced that we were eating cupcakes "Because Trevor pooped in potty!!!!!!!!!!!!" Just wanted to get all this down in case Trevor marries this little girl someday. ;)
This afternoon we went to Barnes & Noble to play on the train table for a little while. Trevor loves Thomas and knows the names of maybe 20-30 different trains- most of which he learned from studying a magazine. His memory is sharp. On the way home he spotted both Michaels & Target out the window. He also yells STOP if he sees a stop sign or "Green Means Go!" when he notices the traffic light. If we see a red car anywhere, he announces that it's 'Mr. Jack's car' (our neighbor) and if I tell him it's probably not he logically assumes it must be Aunt Bethanne.
i laughed at so many things in this post... the best may have been the announcement at the cupcake party.
