A few things to remember about Abby at age 2.5:
(35.9 inches- 57th percentile, 30.4 lbs- 67th percentile)
- Mostly wears 3/4T clothes, size 7 shoes
- Fully daytime potty trained. Communicates that she needs to go or just grabs a book, heads to the bathroom, gets on her ring, and shuts the door 'because she needs privacy.'
- Talks a LOT. She likes to ask Trevor about preschool- who had what job, what his friends did, the art he made, etc. She says, "When I grow up to be a mommy I'm going to .. " several times everyday.
- Knows how to get Trevor worked up and enjoys doing it
- Memorized several Bible verses and knows the words to multiple hymns. Attends 2 year old Sunday School and has been sitting through the entire church service for a while now, probably before turning 2.
- Still sleeps in a crib. Started sharing room with Trevor shortly after 2nd birthday. Wakes at 7:00am, naps 1:45-3:45, bedtime 8:00pm.
- Loves to play with dolls, dress-up clothes, draw, cut, play games like Candy Land and Sequence
- Loves reading books
- Is happy to play with Thomas trains or Disney Cars stuff with Trevor
- Likes Daniel Tiger, Doc McStuffins, Shimmer & Shine, Trolls
- Picks up on lots of things Trevor tells us he learned at preschool. They spent a week focusing on patterns and now Abby is quick to tell you if you have on a patterned shirt or even to draw a pattern of blobs when she's coloring. They also did Olympics at school and she pointed out the Olympic rings on a cereal box out of the blue.
Trevor at age 5:
(43.75 inches- 65th percentile, 43.4 lbs- 67th percentile)
- Wears size 5/6 clothes, size 13 sneakers. Finally able to fully dress himself, pick out his clothes, and work his shoes & coat independently!!
- Around 4.5 started to enjoy drawing and loves to draw pictures of Thomas engines. He also loves crafts.
- His love for reading has slowed down a bit, but he enjoys looking at magazines- his favorites are Thomas & Friends magazine and Oriental Trading. One day he called Abby a 'poo splat ball.' After a stern explanation on why that was not nice I asked him where he learned that. Oriental Trading. (They sell fake poop). He also told me to write Saint Patrick's Day on his calendar- March 17th. I asked him if he learned that at school. 'No, I just read that in my Oriental Trading Magazine.'
- Lately is really enjoying card games
- At his 5 year well check he tested positive for strep throat. On his last day of antibiotics he broke out in a rash. He was more emotionally distressed over the ordeal than bothered by the rash. He was convinced it happened because he chose strawberry flavoring for the amoxicillin. He asks lots of questions and wants thorough explanations on the way everything works. A week later Brooke was prescribed the same medicine for an ear infection. I gave her the first dose at 2pm and he said, "Oh no mom! Now you're going to have to wake her up at 2:00 in the morning to give her more!!" I assured him the doctor said I could wait until she woke up.
- He clearly still likes Thomas and is also into Planes Fire & Rescue still, and Cars. We recently watched Cars 3. We tried to watch the Trolls movie but he got scared of the Bergens and cried, asking us to turn it off. He says he never wants us to get the Trolls movie ever again but when he grows up to be a dad we can get it for his sisters. Despite that, he just completed a reading challenge at the library to go to a Trolls party so I guess he's cool with the decorations and the music and books, just scared of the movie. Being the instigator that she is Abby declared that when she gets her big girl bed she wants a Bergen blanket to scare Trevor.
- Trevor says that when he grows up his wife is never cooking dinner. He wrote her a note. He will do all the cooking so he can choose what he likes. He's a good eater but adamantly dislikes mashed potatoes and couscous. Yesterday Abby invited him to a nice picnic with her dolls and got out all the plates, etc. only to declare "Trevor, we're having couscous!!!!" He's still scarred.
