Lately I've been thinking about a few things about the way that life is now that I'd like to remember.
Trevor started Kindergarten. It seems to be going well. The information he gives is sporadic. He told us one boy who sits at his table has Thomas shoes, but he doesn't know his name. I encouraged him to compliment the boy on his shoes because they might be good friends. He did, but did not ask the kid's name. One of the boys in his class rides the same bus home after school. Trevor told me he watched out the window and this boy lives at 3595 Knollwood Dr. But he doesn't know the kid's name. HA. One day last week Trevor requested to take soup for his lunch so I packed it in a thermos. He got the cafeteria helper to open it but decided to screw it closed himself. Soup leaked everywhere and he came home carrying a sopping wet lunchbox inside a Walmart bag. He said he will never take soup again. Oh well. Right now he LOVES to send mail. He writes all his own stuff and doesn't 'need' help spelling anything. One night he knocked on our bedroom door at 2am to ask Kyle, "Does the address label go on the left and the stamp on the right or the other way around?"
Abby is becoming super chatty and her personality is getting even stronger with Trevor off at school. She makes up stories constantly. Yesterday I asked Trevor if he wanted to be a fireman for Halloween and she decided she would be a hose. She talked about this all day today. She currently likes to pretend to wash people's hair and 'cut' it with toy tweezers. She likes to dance around, and is very coordinated at riding Trevor's scooter. She knows how to ride her tricycle but prefers to be pushed with the parent handle on the back. She is very protective of her things and snatches them away from Brooke. All of Abby's shoes live on top of the shoe bench where Brooke can't reach them. With Trevor at school Abby's favorite snack request is croutons. She likes to do 'homeschool preschool' if it involves glue or paint, but if I ask her to write something she says I'm hurting her feelings. Using magnets on the fridge she can spell Abby, Dad, Mom, and sometimes Brooke. We recently moved her to a twin bed and she is getting more independent in the bathroom.
Brooke has has a strong personality and knows what she wants. She likes to pull books off the shelf and eat shoes. She immediately crawls for cords and lamps, and dives head first into laundry baskets. She has 7 teeth and chomps everything. Both of my shoulders are bruised. :/ She is eating solid food well and sometimes eats just as much as Abby. She enjoys sucking her thumb- doesn't matter which one, and often grabs her ear with the other hand. She sleeps a lot- taking 2 long naps. Lately she refuses to nap at church so she's up for a long time on Sunday mornings, then falls asleep in the car on the way home. I carry her to her bed and she usually sleeps for at least 2 hours, wakes and has some food, and then takes another nap before dinner. She is crawling well now but started out army crawling across the room so Trevor and Abby call her Miss Soldier. We have pillows and ottomans blocking off outlets and they refer to these as "Brooke traps." Abby sets up Brooke traps for her dolls and stuffed animals too. Brooke really enjoys eating doormats and licking vents too. She also loves to go in the bathroom. She rarely plays with actual toys. Her favorite thing to do in the living room is try to eat a photo album or plastic bags in her diaper caddy. She crawls on all fours now and can straighten her legs to dive into a box, but doesn't really pull UP to higher objects just yet.
These kids exhaust us but we sure do love them a lot.
